If you are looking for a complete list of all the books mentioned in The Correspondent by Virginia Evans, you have come to the right place.

One of my favorite parts of The Correspondent is all the books mentioned throughout the many letters to and from Sybil. I loved how every time Sybil and Rosalie would write to each other, they would sign off by saying what they were currently reading. I also loved Sybil’s letters to and from the various authors she wrote to.

I like to keep track of characters when I’m reading, and when I noticed there was a theme of Sybil mentioning the books she was reading, I started to keep track of those, too.

I was torn over whether to provide the list of books in the order they appear or alphabetical order. I like seeing them in the order they appear, but an alphabetical list can be easier to navigate. After thinking it over, I decided to provide both!

I also included the page numbers where the books are mentioned, if you want to go back and look at what was said about each book. You will also find links to each book.

Here are all the books mentioned in The Correspondent.

The Books Mentioned in the Order They Appear

Additional Authors mentioned without specific books:

  • William Butler Yeats
  • Samuel Beckett
  • Philip Roth
  • H.G. Wells

The Books Mentioned in Alphabetical Order

Have you read any of the books on this list?

I’ve personally only read about 10 of the books on this list, but I have to say that based on those 10 (and a couple of those I would consider all-time favorites of mine), Sybil and her friends have pretty good taste in books. Which ones have you read?

  1. Thank you so much for this list. I was bookmarking where they’re mentioned (Kindle feature) and soon thought I’d search.

  2. Many thanks for list – it was amazing the listing of books in her Novel. I am going now try to read some of the books I have not previously read.

  3. Thanks. I thought to make note of them half way through then realized I wasn’t really interested in read them. The only one that caught my interest was Never Let Me Go and I am listening to it now. Thank you so much for the list and the two formats (and providing page numbers). This is awesome!
